The title for this figurative oil painting is tongue and cheek, but also a nod to all the art models over the centuries who had to endure sitting still for hours upon hours in ridiculous costumes that had no resemblance to their own lifestyles. The model for this painting was a happy participant in girl-play. An artist herself, she and another friend were invited to come play dress-up with the new props a group of us painters had recently acquired. It was a fun and silly day. I'm still so impressed she was able to hold a straight face for any length of time. I can't help chuckle every time I look at her.
